Isn’t it fun going to weddings? You get all dressed up, watch as the cute couple agrees to love each other until the end of time, and maybe you even dance a little at the reception? And later, as you’re walking to your car, you have genuine feelings of warmth just remembering the beautiful ceremony and the fabulous time you had celebrating the beginning of their enduring love.
And then, for some reason, we mark that life event off the list, never to be celebrated again. Why do we do this? Does their love for one another become less important as time goes by? Do we truly believe they will now live happily ever after with no bumps in the road? (We know better, right?) So, why do we feel as if the celebration is over when in fact, we should be in constant celebration of the couple, encouraging them as they grow together sharing God’s perfect love.
This year, why not make it a point to celebrate the couples in your life - from the newly engaged to those celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary? Because when two people join together, promising to honor God and each other, and to support each other as they grow together in faith, do you think God stops celebrating after the reception? Absolutely not.
As we all know, there is “a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” So, why not get our dancing shoes back on? Let’s celebrate love and ccongratulate them all over again, and let them know we are praising God for His blessings.Know an inspiring couple who has encouraged you over the years?
