What are the degradable plastics?

The environmental protection problem is becoming more and more serious, so the environmental protection materials such as degradable plastics receive more attention. So, what are the degradable plastics?

PLA: polylactic acid.It is a new kind of biodegradable material and biodegradable material, which is made of starch from renewable plant resources (such as maize). The starch raw material is glycosylated to glucose, which is fermented by glucose and certain strains of bacteria to produce high purity lactic acid, and the polylactic acid with certain molecular weight is synthesized by chemical synthesis. It has good biodegradability, and can be completely degraded by the microbes in nature under certain conditions after use, so as to eventually generate carbon dioxide and water without polluting the environment, which is very beneficial to the protection of the environment and is recognized as an environment-friendly material.

PBS: polybutanediol butyrate。The white particles are synthesized by condensation polymerization of succinic acid and butanediol. The resins are milky white, odorless and tasteless, easy to be decomposed and metabolized by enzymes of various microorganisms or plants in nature, and finally decomposed into carbon dioxide and water. Has good biological compatibility and biological absorbability, good heat resistance performance, thermal deformation temperature and products using the temperature can exceed 100 ℃. Its synthetic raw materials can be obtained from both petroleum resources and fermentation of biological resources. PBS is the leader in biodegradable plastic materials.

PCL: polycaprolactone。With good biodegradability, biocompatibility and non-toxicity, it is widely used as a medical biodegradable material and drug control and release system, and can be used in tissue engineering as a drug sustained release system

PHA: polyhydroxy fatty acid ester。Is made up of a number of bacteria to synthesize a kind of intracellular polyester, inside the organism mainly as a carbon source and energy storage material, it is similar to the physicochemical properties of synthetic plastics and synthetic plastics that the biodegradable property, biocompatibility, optical activity, many excellent properties such as piezoelectric, gas apart. Polyhydroxy fatty acid ester has a broad application prospect in biodegradable packaging materials, tissue engineering materials, slow-release materials, electrical materials and medical materials, but it can only be applied in a large scale after reducing PHA production costs.

PBAT: polyadipate/butylene terephthalate。PBAT, a thermoplastic biodegradable plastic, is a copolymer of butanediol adipate and butanediol terephthalate. It has the characteristics of PBA and PBT. In addition, it has good biodegradability and is one of the most active and marketable biodegradable materials in biodegradable plastics research.
